It is a comprehensive child development program including medical, dental, mental health, nutritional and educational services for 626 children. Early Head Start serves 154 children in a Center Base setting and 40 in a Home Base setting. The Head Start program serves 109 in a Home Base and 323 in Center Base. TCCA serves Head Start and Early Head Start in the following counties; Shelby, San Augustine, Sabine, Jasper, Tyler, Newton and Angelina.Head Start has a Success University Program set up for all parents that involves them in educational opportunities throughout the program year. Parents accrue college credits and graduate at the end of each year. Tri-County also has successful partnerships with San Augustine Independent School District where we serve 80 Head Start children and Mary Jo Gorden Center where we serve 30 Early Head Start children. We partner with Angelina College and work with Social Service Department to place interns at our Head Start Centers in Angelina County. Head Start also partners with the Americorps of Texas Mentorcorps program and has 3 mentors who work in the classrooms at two of our centers. Tri-County is committed to providing excellent educational services throughout our Social Readiness Program and Family Engagement Program.Tri-County Head Start/Early Head Start is committed to quality in service to our chidren and families. Integrity, professionalism and teamwork is important to each employee and we work hard daily to achieve this goal. 3370949 5024 Energy Assistance - Tri-County served nearly 8,000 individuals in 2011.During the 2011 program year TCCA assisted over 7,200 individuals (including seniors, disabled individuals, children 5 or under). The following information lists some areas of assistance that was provided:- 161 participants were assisted with obtaining child or dependent care.- 226 participants obtained health care services for themselves or family members.- 6,157 participants were assisted through the utility services program.- Low-income volunteers provided 59,829 donated hours.- 686 seniors living independently were assisted through TCCA's programs.- 1,722 individuals with disabilities were assisted through TCCA's programs.- 435 families were assisted with food items for the holidays.- 526 families were assisted with clothing items.- Approximately 4,236 information referrals were made on behalf of clients and non-clients.Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) - Serving Harrison, Jasper, Newton, Panola, Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby, Tyler and Upshur Counties.The purpose of the Weatherization Program is to assist low-income persons, particularly the elderly and the handicapped, in maintaining a healthful and comfortable environment within their homes, despite extremes in outside weather conditions. This program aids those persons least able to afford high energy costs and conserves needed energy.The WAP (Weatherization Assistance Program) makes repairs and modifications to dwellings that are necessary in the conservation of energy. The program is not a home improvement program, but an energy conservation program.The program is funded by the Department of Energy through the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA).
