Programs were offered in the classroom, on school grounds/neighborhood parks and at the Audubon Center at Chatfield State Park. The nature center is open to the public for special monthly family programs, public events, and our new Preschool Nature Hour. We had 2,200 visitors and program participants of all ages at the nature center during fiscal year 2012. 59280 12245 Member Services: 8,500 people attended 350 field trips and classes. Our over 2,500 members receive information and an electronic version of our Warbler Newsletter through email, Facebook, and Twitter notices. The switch to an electronic newsletter in January 2011 was made in order to save resources. Current and back issues of the Warbler are available on our new website unveiled in 2011. Conservation program: ASGD's Conservation Committee follows legislative activities and watches for projects or proposals that might adversely affect bird populations, other wildlife and habitat. Committee members participate in land-use stakeholder meetings and review construction plans and conservation alternatives. Current projects include the Chatfield Reallocation project and reviewing impacts and measures for mitigation. The Committee hosts an annual Legislative Forum and Advocacy 101 training.2. Research program: ASGD's more formal research efforts are managed by the Lois Webster Fund (LWF). The LWF sponsors research and educational projects concerning non-game wildlife. Recently funded projects included Bedrock Bioblitz, a multi-disciplined documentation of the composition of a riparian habitat before and after a restoration project on the Dolores River, Colorado; Life Stage Male Bias Arising in Mountain Plover; and Mammalian Habitat Use Along a Development Gradient in Northern Colorado, examines how exurban development density influences mammalian species' habitat use and documents the threshhold density at which mammals reduce their use of habitat. 3. Other notable programs include: Audubon Master Birder program, monthly programs and events for all ages at the Audubon Center at Chatfield State Park, adult classes such as Beginning Birdwatching, and the Bluebird Project.The success of these activities is related to ASGD's large volunteer program.
