Machik Corp (or Machik) founded the award winning Ruth Walter Chungba Primary School in the rural community of Chungba on the eastern edge of the Tibetan plateau. The school provides free education and boarding for over 645 rural boarding children in both primary and middle school. The children's parents are almost all subsistence farmers and nomads who are mostly illiterate. These children will be the first literate generation in the history of the community. Since the school first opened in 2002, these rural children have been the top performers in the county in Tibetan. Graduates of the primary school are placing first in both Tibetan and Chinese language standardized testing. Machik also continues to support programs in non-teaching staff support, teacher support and support for the middle school graduates to attend high school in other counties.
