Cardiovascular Outcomes Research and Reporting Program M-CORRP The purpose of the registry is to collect data o n FMD patients seeking treatment at one of twelve medical centers in the United States Until now minimal research has been initiated on FMD The database grew in 2011 to more than 500 patients and is the largest repository of information of FMD p atients to date The database is being used by investigators to learn more about the FMD population genetics treatment outcomes and prognosis A number of medical documents are in progress to be published in 2012 21081 Healthcare Professional Education Program This program is a combination of attending medical conferences and presenting training classes within hospital environments The program is a major focus of FMDSA and has been an avenue to educate literally thousands of medical professionals The end result is a greater awareness of Fibromuscular Dysplasia within the medical community improved medical expertise for patients and development of key partnerships that are helping us spur research activi ty FMDSA participated in the following conferences in 2011 The fifth HEGP Hopital Europeen G Pompidou meeting on FMD 1st Annual US Conference on Rare Diseases and Orphan Products American Cardiology Conference International Stroke Conference Society of Vascular Medicine and Provena Covenant Medical Center 21341 22199 Annual Medical Conference FMDSA held its fourth conference in 2011 in Cleveland Ohio The primary purpose of the conference is to educate the patient population on the latest progress on FMD research Speakers included Dr Jeffrey Olin of Mt Sinai Dr Heather Gornick of the Cleveland Clinic Dr Rishi Gupta from Emory Hospital Angela Dalenberg of the Mayo Clinic Dr Chris Buller of St Michaels Hospital Dr Hussain from the Cleveland Clinic Dr Leopoldo Pozuelo from the Cleveland Clinic and Dr Kevin Meyers from Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia Public Awareness Program This program was initiated in July 2005 as GAP patients educate their healthcare providers about FMD We have a number of valuable resources on our website to help communicate FMD in laymens terms as well as more in depth i nformation for physicians that can help bridge the gap and build a better relationship between patient and physician GAP also includes our work to get represented within the media In 2011 we were featured on myFox New York and Fox News in Florid a as well as numerous web and print articles including National Stroke Association website Circumventions Clinical Neurology News and Endovascular Today Website Education One of our most important charters is to educate patients and family about FMD Our website has grown exponentially since inception FMDSA is the premier resource of FMD information for the layperson and an excellent place for ph ysicians to easliy find medical papers Our Honcode certification is a stamp of approval that verifies we are an unbiased organization providing only medical certified information FMD Research FMDSA did not directly fund any research grants in 2011 However we did have a 10000 liability to Erasmus MC in Rotterdam that was paid to cover FMD reserach This category also includes expenses related to the time we spend talkin g with candidate reserachers and follow up on medical data Patient Support As we spread awareness patient
