The Child Development Center at our Safe Campus provides a specialized curriculum for children five and under using a multidisciplined approach as well as understanding and recognizing the unique needs of traumatized children. Our Safe Campus Learning Center, established in the fall of 2010, provides an educational environment free from fear of discovery by the abuser in a two-room schoolhouse at our Safe Campus for children in grades K-2. Children in grades 3-12 receive homework help, tutoring, mentoring and playtime when they return to the Safe Campus from school as well as a summer program when school is not in session. In 2012, we provided 86,490 service hours. DESCRIPTION OF OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES FORM 990, PART III, QUESTION 4D Be Project- established in 1999 Our Be Project reaches out to youth in area elementary, middle and high schools, and college campuses teaching them how to stop bullying, teen dating violence and sexual assault. The program is called the Be Project to encourage students to Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Courageous and Be More. The curriculum, which includes a leadership development component, addresses topics including bullying sexual assault, teen dating violence, gender stereotypes, sexual harassment, and healthy versus unhealthy relationships. The curriculum is administered to all students due to the prevalence of sexual violence and to not stigmatize or marginalize victims. Individual counseling for victims of sexual violence is also offered through the Be Project as requested by school counselors and partners and/or by students who make an outcry after receiving classroom education services. Therapeutic groups are conducted with small groups of students to further address topics such as those included in the classroom sessions, as well as provide a safe, supportive environment for personal sharing and peer support. Professional trainings are also offered as part of the Be Project, which assumes a community-based approach to sexual violence to increase the impact and effectiveness of services. In 2012, we provided 31,073 education and service hours. Staffed primarily by volunteers, the Resale Shop accepts donations and provides free clothing, household items and furniture to clients as necessary. Excess donated inventory is sold to the general public to raise funds for programs. In 2012, we provided free vouchers to 352 families. DESCRIPTION OF OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES FORM 990, PART III, QUESTION 4D Battering Intervention & Prevention Program (BIPP) - established in 1984 Abusers working to change their violent behavior access specialized group and individual counseling services at our BIPP office in North Dallas and groups which are provided in Irving, South Dallas and Oak Cliff. BIPP works closely with the criminal justice system, Child Protective Services and family courts to provide court-ordered counseling services to the community. In 2012, we provided 14,421 service hours. DESCRIPTION OF OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES FORM 990, PART III, QUESTION 4D Faith and Liberty's Place - established in 2003 The Family Place is the lead nonprofit agency in this collaborative effort to provide supervised visitation and monitored exchange for children in Dallas County. Trained professionals supervise visitation with non-custodial parents and provide monitored exchange to divorced parents and their children in this safe, neutral, child-centered environment. Referrals come directly from the Dallas County Family Courts, primarily from child custody cases in which one parent has a history of abusive behaviors toward the other parent and/or child. In 2012, we provided 4,640 service hours. DESCRIPTION OF OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES FORM 990, PART III, QUESTION 4D Public Education - established in 1978 Through our agency website, social network, speakers' bureau, a newsletter published three times a year, an active public relations program and powerful public service announcements, The Family Place provides extensive and ongoing education about the negative effects of family violence on our community and broadcasts the message that safety and solutions are at The Family Place. The Family Place networks extensively in the community as a valuable participant in numerous collaborative projects. The agency is also an active member of the Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance, which participates in continuum of care planning, advocacy and works to end homelessness in Dallas County.
