Our accomplishments for 2012 include: 221 individuals served weekly in programs 1,300 backpacks and school supplies distributed in 2012 350 turkeys and 500 baskets of food distributed for Thanksgiving 52 children received beds and new bedrooms from Extreme Bedroom Makeover Agape received the 2012 Heatlthcare Hero Award from Fulton County Hospital Authority Youth and Education Programs at Agape Community Center focus on academic achievement, character development, reading proficiency by third grade, high school graduation and post-graduation planning.Afterschool for Elementary and Middle School Students focuses on providing a safe haven afterschool for girls and boys grades K through 8. The activities and curriculum of the Afterschool for Elementary and Middle School students include tutoring and mentoring, character development and accountability activities, educational and recreational activities including field trips, music classes, arts & crafts, computer time, monthly birthday parties, monthly community service project, Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) Prep, physical fitness and family involvement. After homework, each student is fed a healthy, nutritious dinner and is taught about nutrition in life skills sessions. Youth and Education at Agape also provides ESOL programming for Spanish Speaking students with language barriers focusing on academic support and student retention.The Ginger Kaney Mentoring Institute for High School Students addresses several important issues regarding teen development and potential barriers towards their success. Activities include tutoring and mentoring, character development and accountability activities, educational and recreational activities including field trips, music classes, arts & crafts, computer time, monthly birthday parties, monthly community service projects, SAT and ACT prep classes, good nutrition through daily dinner and classes and family involvement. Agape has a computer lab where students learn, study and research for school, for enrichment projects and for post-high school planning.GOGIRLGO! and FIT Camp for Boys are intensive 8 week summer programs for 50 young women and 40 young men ages 8-16 from underserved families. The goal of the programs are to get girls and boys active, instill lifelong exercise habits and to educate girls and boys on healthy choices that lead to healthy lifestyles. Camp JumpStart is an early reading summer program for rising first and second graders focusing on reading proficiency by third grade.Agape Community Center has several Community Outreach Programs to care for those underservedRAGTIME is a day program for senior citizens and diabled adults designed to provide a social environment for participants to remain active, healthy and vibrant.
