In addition, several policy programs offer an expanded look into specific categories, such as public safety and justice issues at the national Justice Center, public health issues at Healthy States, combined state efforts in areas of common interest through the National Center for Interstate Compacts, and model legislation through the Suggested State Legislation program. 1) efforts to ensure funding, reauthorization and the successful implementation of the Second Chance Act; 2) secure funding support for a Justice Reinvestment Congressional initiative; and 3) raise awareness on Capitol Hill about state corrections challenges, prisoner reentry and recidivism reduction efforts. The Justice Center educated policymakers in Oklahoma, Hawaii and Pennsylvania on justice reinvestment legislation being considered by the legislature that was developed out of analyses and technical that was provided to these three states at the request of their governor, legislative leaders, and other state officials.
