AHA is required to match the amount spent from the services endowment to ensure full funding for these positions. AHA has used a portion of the grant from the CCF to fund the match. Earnings to date plus the match have been sufficient to fully fund the positions. The Development Working Capital endowment restricts the funds to be used only for predevelopment costs associated with housing programs being newly developed or significantly renovated. Funds are advanced as temporary project financing, and are returned to the working capital fund when a project is permanently financed. Earnings on the working capital endowment are to be used only for predevelopment costs. Description of Uncertain Tax Positions Under FIN 48: Part X: Archdiocesan Housing Authority dba CHS is exempt from federal income taxes as an organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Wholly owned subsidiaries are also exempt under Section 501(c)(3). The exemptions under Section 501(c)(3) are granted according to the United States Catholic Conference group ruling by the Internal Revenue Service. CHS is included under the ruling by virtue of its listing in the Official Catholic Directory by the Archdiocese of Seattle. Real property used in providing housing for the elderly, handicapped and low-income families is exempt from real estate taxes for 2012. CHS's income tax filings are subject to examination by various taxing authorities. CHSs open examination periods are from 2008 and thereafter. CHS follows the provisions of uncertain tax positions as addressed in FASB Accounting Standards Codification Subtopic 740-10, Income Taxes. CHS believes that it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements.
