The program department is the direct contact with partner organizations. There are currently 16 organizations in 5 countries. The program department analyzes and evaluates the proposals submitted by potential partners. The approval is done in collaboration with the executive director upon study of the financial sustainability in the proposal as well as indicators or qualitative quantitative development. A collaboration agreement is signed by each partner at beginning of the year. It includes the name of the project, specifies the amount of funding, sets wire transfer dates, and requests specific reports from the partners regarding the evolution of the projects. A confirmation letter from each partner is required to confirm that the funds were received correctly and on time. The program department visits all partners annually and submits trip reports upon return. The visits allow CK first-hand information about the use of the funds and implementation of the projects. Partners are required to submit reports three times a year on the funded projects. The program department maintains direct and constant communication with each partner. A year-end report is written by CK explaining how funds were used. One of those board members will be leaving in 2013.
