<DescriptionProgramServiceAccom>Rebuilding Alliance is bringing the world together to rebuild Palestinian neighborhoods and recognize their right to plan and build on the land they own.Our Mission: Rebuilding War-Torn Communities -- Making Them Safe. A Life-Affirming Vision: A just and enduring peace in Israel and Palestine founded upon equal value, security, and opportunity for all.Description* We believe that if our world is to meet the big challenges that face us at this time in history, we must make peace in Israel and Palestine.* We believe a child's life can be changed for good by rebuilding her/his home and neighborhood.* We believe construction is the best response to destruction, that village-centered rebuilding eases trauma, build trust, strengthen peacemakers, and press officials to keep those neighborhoods standing.Achievements for the Year Fiscal Year 2012 was all about realizing the goals set in FY2011 through fundraising and then construction of the first three homes in our "Rebuilding to Remain" program. "Rebuilding to Remain" placed in the top ten projects in each of the GlobalGiving.com Bonus Day competitions. With the funds raised, construction began as we transferred first a down payment grant and then the first revolving mortgage loans to the Al Aqaba Community Assembly for Housing the Displaced. Rebuilding Alliance (RA) nearly met our commitment of $20,000 per home during that fiscal year.Donna Baranski-Waker, RA's Executive Director and Architect Hani Hassan presented our Rebuilding to Remain program at the World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. RA also visited Washington DC to advocate to keep Al Aqaba Village standing and to press forward with our Leahy case. Then in June, 2012 RA board chair Carin Pacifico and Executive Director Donna Baranski-Walker visited Jerusalem to meet with the office of the Latin Patriarchate to explore a possible lease of Patriarchate land for school or hospital projects for the benefit of all humanity. In June, 2012, the Israeli Civil Administration rejected Al Aqaba Village's 3rd master plan and issued new 3-day demolition orders to a home and various animal shelters. That night, the Israeli Army carried out live-fire training exercises within Al Aqaba Village despite a signed agreement brokered by the Israeli High Court stating that live-fire training is prohibited within the village. Rebuilding Alliance mobilized our network to call Congress, the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Consulate, and many of the consulates of foreign countries who have invested in Al Aqaba to ask them to call the Israeli Army on our behalf. The next morning the army left and did not return, though training exercises continued nearby. Through the diligent intervention of the Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Center (JLAC), demolition orders were frozen. In addition to launching our Rebuilding to Remain program, Rebuilding Alliance completed construction of a playground in the village of Al Samoa-Simya, working with our partner organization, Combatants for Peace.Goals for the FutureIn Area C of the West Bank, 149 Palestinian communities are facing demolition orders. Americans of all faiths are already deeply engaged in on-the-ground projects which bring Palestinians, Israelis and internationals together to keep homes, clinics and schools standing. Rebuilding Alliance has set our goal to use all we've learned in keeping Al Aqaba Village standing, to now launch and build the U.S. Movement to Save Palestinian Villages and mirror their message of hope.</DescriptionProgramServiceAccom>
