CanCare trains groups of volunteers four+ times a year. The 17-hour training course is broken up over three days and is designed to prepare volunteers to help others cope with the physical, emotional, psychosocial and spiritual aspects of their cancer experience. Following this training, volunteers may attend continuing education and support opportunities to learn more about cancer and the needs of cancer patients and their families.Volunteers donated 6,466 hours to CanCare during 2012 to visit in Hospitals, and to work one-on-one with cancer patients and their families in the Houston, TX area, Atlanta, GA area, and Colorado Springs, CO area.
