A written Concept Letter will then be required to be submitted. (See attached Leadership Application Procedures and Guidelines) March 1st & October 1st Awards are made to U.S.-based environmental organizations with 501(c)(3) status, governmental agencies, or educational institutions. Support for Fellows doing international work may be considered as long as a U.S.-based host organization is the grantee and all the other criteria are met.The proposed projects may address any environmental issue, but must be performed in partnership with a Switzer Fellow and accomplish three goals:1. Advances the professional career, expertise, and leadership of a Switzer Fellow.2. Builds the capacity of a non-profit or public agency to effectively address issues of environmental quality through the skills provided by the Switzer Fellow.3. Requests for Professional Development Grants may be made to the Robert and Patricia Switzer Foundation at any time, and an online Application Form is provided.Written requests need not be more thatn 1-2 pages, listing the Fellow's name and contact information, their title and employer, the general responsibilities of their current position, and a description of the specific professional development opportunity for which funds are being sought. Include an explanation of how the opportunity will advance the Fellow's career, and the cost of the professional development opportunity along with the funds sought from the Foundation. Indicate also the degree to which the Fellow or their Organization will fund the Fellow's participation, and any other sources of funding available.
