Through pursuits like climbing, hiking, running, swimming, road and mountain biking, yoga, strength training, racing and other activities, they seek to help their members develop and maintain the emotional strength they need to stay sober. Phoenix members become part of a community that places value on the future rather than the past. Phoenix Multisport offers the opportunity for social and athletic networking that can lead to long lasting relationships with others who share a commitment to sobriety. 0 0 1171709 0 123877 In 2013, Phoenix Multisport continued to grow in Colorado, reaching 3,049 new participants while expanding our depth of programming. Since our inception in 2007, Phoenix has served 12,986 individuals. Peer recovery support services, such as those offered at Phoenix, help people become and stay engaged in the recovery process and reduce the likelihood of relapse.In August of 2013, Phoenix Multisport was awarded a three-year grant through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to introduce Together Families Recover (TFR), a new program that allows friends and family members of our team members to join them at certain events. Phoenix Multisport and our staff also received significant statewide and national attention in 2013. Our Founder, Scott Strode, was honored by the Colorado State Legislature by a joint House and Senate Resolution for his work at Phoenix. In June, Scott received the Vernon Johnson Award from Faces and Voices of Recovery, and in September, Scott was the keynote speaker at the National Conference on Addiction Disorders.
