SchD_P10_S00_L02 Schedule D, Part X, Line 2 The Association is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRC. The ALA/APA is exempt under Section 501(c)(6) of the IRC. Section 501(c)(3) and Section 501(c)(6) organizations are taxed only on income classified as unrelated business income. The ALA/APA does not currently have any unrelated business income. The Association has income derived from certain advertising activities that has been determined to be unrelated business income. Unrelated business income is taxed in accordance with federal and state income tax regulations. The provision for unrelated business income taxes was $6,117 in 2013 and $-0- in 2012. The tax years ended 2009, 2010 and 2011 are still open to audit for both federal and state purposes. Based on the evaluation of the Association's tax positions, management believes all positions taken would be upheld under an examination; therefore, no provision for the effects of uncertain tax position has been recorded for the years ended August 31, 2013 and 2012.
