<DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>Undesirable Elements Festival In FY13, PCC marked the 20th anniversary of the landmark Undesirable Elements series with a 3-week festival at La MaMa ETC from October 18-November 4, 2012. Performances included Cry for Peace: Voices from the Congo (see below), Secret Survivors, exploring experiences of adult survivors of child sexual abuse, and a special UE anniversary production. Sadly, our scheduled presentation of Inside/Out: voices from the disability community was canceled due to the impact of Hurricane Sandy. The festival also included three community/artist panels on the production themes, the premiere of the Secret Survivors documentary, the launch of the UE book, and a training workshop for artists. The UEFestival received media coverage in outlets such as the NY Times and Huffington Post, introduced PCC's work to a new generation of audiences, and raised awareness about our innovative work in art and social practice. Cry for Peace: Voices from the Congo Cry for Peace was commissioned by Syracuse University, and developed in partnership with Syracuse Stage, to share the stories of refugees from the wars in the Democratic Republic of the Congo who are seeking community and ethnic reconciliation in their newly adopted home of Syracuse, NY. Cry for Peace is a new step for the Undesirable Elements series, specifically designed as a replicable international model to help refugees foster reconciliation in their new land. Before the La MaMa presentation (see above), Cry for Peace premiered at Syracuse Stage from September 11-23, 2012, where it ran for 12 performances and was seen by 4,330 people, including 2,500 students.Secret Survivors Initiative In FY13 PCC launched a national initiative with the Ms. Foundation for Women to train five regional organizations in the methods used by PCC to address child sexual abuse through the arts. PCC hosted organizations from Minnesota, Michigan, Massachusetts, Oregon, and New York at a one-week training intensive in Amherst, MA. Following the training institute, PCC is working closely with each organization as they create their own productions in the model of PCCs Secret Survivors. Listen to Me: stories of child sexual abuse survivors and those who help them - In April 2013, PCC premiered Listen to Me, the first new work in the Secret Survivors National Initiative. Produced by PCC and Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) in the Bronx, Listen to Me shares the true stories of therapists from KHCC and gives voice to the experiences of child survivors who have gone through KHCCs child sexual abuse prevention and treatment program. Listen to Me was presented at KHCC for two free performances followed by a Q+A with the therapists. Over 200 people attended the presentations.Brooklyn 63 - In May 2013, PCC presented Brooklyn '63, a theater performance featuring Brooklyn-based activists, witnesses and those who have inherited the legacy of a generation of civic action. Brooklyn 63 was commissioned by 651 ARTS, as part of their Movement 63 season commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the momentous year in United States history. Brooklyn 63 was presented for 2 performances at the Kumble Theater of Long Island University, as well as a free invited-dress rehearsal and talk-back for community groups.Arts Education PCC continued its UE arts education program. In FY13, PCC added two new partners, Flushing International High School in Queens, and Girls Inc., an after school program in Brooklyn, and continued its partnership with Global Kids. Training Institute PCC held its 3rd annualUE training institute in Amherst, MA from June 9-15, 2013. Seventeen participants attended from across the US for a week-long workshop in UE methodology.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>
