Part III, Line 4: The Museum's collections are made up of approximately 1.4 million objects of scientific and historical significance that are held for educational, research, scientific, and curatorial purposes. These items are cataloged, preserved, and cared for, and activities verifying their existence and assessing their condition are performed continously. The collections are subject to both accession and de-accession policies including a policy that requires proceeds from their sales to be used to support the Museum's collections. Part X, Line 2: The Museum follows the Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes accounting standard which requires the Museum to determine whether a tax position (and the related tax benefit) is more likely than not to be sustained upon examination by the applicable taxing authority, based solely on the technical merits of the position. The Museum believes that it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are significant to the financial statements. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c Conflict of interest disclosures are completed yearly by trustees, officers, and key employees. Potential conflicts, whether initially disclosed or subsequently discovered, are reviewed by the Nominating and Governance Committee to determine if a conflict actually exists. The Nominating and Governance Committee provides a report of conflicts and Committee decisions to the Board yearly. Trustees, officers, or directors that may have a conflict are prohibited from participating at both the Committee and/or Board level in deliberations regarding any potential or actual conflict. The Compensation Committee solicits feedback annually from the Board of Trustees and senior staff regarding the President/CEO's performance. This feedback is reviewed and discussed by the Compensation Committee in conjunction with comparable salary data. After deliberation, the Committee's recommendations are presented to the Board of Trustees Chair who informs the President/CEO of compensation and benefits for the upcoming year. The Chair reports final salary decisions to the entire Board of Trustees at the next available board meeting. The President/CEO conducts, annually, a performance review of each member of the Senior Leadership Team. Using comparable salary data and compensation adjustment guidelines reviewed by the Board of Trustees, the President/CEO determines the compensation and benefits for each member of the Senior Leadership Team. The President/CEO then presents this information to the Compensation Committee for their review and approval. Minutes are kept for each meeting of the Compensation Committee.
