We do this by building awareness of FMD, funding research activities, providing patient support, and educating patients and the healthcare community. 33558 International Patient RegistryThe patient registry has been developed in cooperation with the University of Michigan Health System's Cardiovascular Outcomes Research and Reporting Program (M-CORRP). The purpose of the registry is to collect data on FMD patients seeking treatment at one of twelve medical centers in the United States. Until now, minimal research has been initiated on FMD. The database grew in 2012 to almost 700 patients being enrolled. Our FMD registry is the largest registry in th eworld collecting data on patients diagnosed with FMD. The data base is helping us to learn more about the disease and will help us to one day set protocols for treating the disease and leat us to hopefully finding a cure. Several articles were published in medical journals in 2012 with data from th eregistry and several abstracts with data were presented at medical conferences. Healthcare Professional Education ProgramThis program is a combination of attending medical conferences and presenting training classes within hospital environments. The program is a major focus of FMDSA and has been an avenue to educate literally thousands of medical professionals. The end result is a greater awareness of Fibromuscular Dysplasia within the medical community, improved medical expertise for patients, and development of key partnerships that are helping us spur research activity. FMDSA participated in the following conferences in 2012: The 22nd European Meeting on Hypertension and Cardiovascular Protection in London, the International Stroke and Sociey of Vascular Medicine Conferences. 1499 Public Awareness ProgramThis program was initiated in July 2005 as GAP patients educate their healthcare providers about FMD. We have a number of valuable resources on our website to help communicate FMD in laymen's terms as well as more in depth information for physicians that can help bridge the gap and build a better relationship between patient and physician. GAP also includes our work to get represented within the media. 200 Website EducationOne of our most important charters is to educate patients and family about FMD. Our website has grown exponentially since inception. FMDSA is the premier resource of FMD information for the layperson and an excellent place for physicians to easliy find medical papers. Our Honcode certification is a stamp of approval that verifies we are an unbiased organization providing only medical certified information. FMD ResearchFMDSA did not directly fund any research grants in 2013. This category includes expenses related to the time we spend talking with candidate reserachers and follow up on medical data. 11248 Patient SupportAs we spread awareness, patient support is becoming a larger part of our responsibility as an organization. A signficant percentage of our paid employee time is spent assisting patients.
