Patient Support: The Peer Support Volunteer Program instituted in 2012 responds to requests for support from patients and/or family members experiencing stress, confusion and isolation regarding the management of their neutropenia. We match the support seeker with a more seasoned patient or caregiver who has faced similar circumstances. All Peer Support Volunteers are provided with one-on-one training and a workbook. In cases where the need is primarily medical we refer them to physicians who serve on the Severe Chronic Neutropenia International Advisory Council. We matched more than twenty five patients in 2013, and responded to approximately two hundred email inquiries for information and guidance. We gave a $500 grant to a struggling college student who has severe lifelong neutropenia. 500 4906 Our newsletter is full of information patients want to know related to the medical management of neutropenia and stories about other patients whose lives have been impacted by neutropenia. The newsletter is made available to all visitors to our website, approximately 30,000 per year. It is also mailed directly to over 900 patients with severe chronic neutropenia 0 2390 In 2013 we took a break after ten years of producing the Neutropenia Family Conference. We studied five years of feedback forms setting in place significant changes to the Conference format.
