The Bell Policy Center was named to the national Aspen Ascend Network, a group of leading-edge organizations working on two-generation approaches.Release of Retirement at Risk, a report analyzing who has access and who does not to retirement savings plans at work in Colorado, and building a coalition to support a Retirement Security Task Force on the issue.Continued success of payday lending reform recent reports indicate that Coloradans are saving more than $40 million annually in fees due to the reforms, and that of the states that still allow payday lending, Colorado has the lowest effective fees for borrowers. Education: We provide research, analysis, public education and advocacy on policies that help Colorado bridge the achievement gap for low-income students, students of color, and English language learners, and increase graduation rates. We also focus on policies that expand access, affordability, and successful completion of post-secondary education and skills training, both for traditional students and for adults already in the workforce. Key achievements in 2014 includeAdvancing policies to establish state funding for adult education and literacy programs, with a focus on workforce development partnerships that will help more low-skilled adults access training and career pathways. Previously, Colorado was the only state that provided no state funding for adult education. Serving as one of very few non-institutional advocates in higher education and advocating for a new funding formula that rewards institutions for promoting student access, completion, and success. Making post-secondary education more affordable for part-time students and working age adults through their inclusion in merit-based aid, increases in financial aid, and caps on tuition increases.Continued success of concurrent enrollment programs that allow students to gain college credit while still in high school; 22% of Colorado juniors and seniors are participating, including a significant number from communities of color.
