Generally accepted accounting principles provide accounting and disclosure guidance about positions taken by an organization in its tax returns that might be uncertain. Management has considered its tax positions and believes that all of the positions taken by the AHH in its federal and state exempt organization tax returns are more likely than not to be sustained upon examination. The Foundation's returns are subject to examination by federal and state taxing authorities, generally for three and four years, respectively, after they are filed. Form 990, Part III, line 3 The Supportive Services for Veteran Families program, offering case management, housing and utility assistance to clients, ceased operation. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11 Form 990 is completed by a CPA firm contracted by the BOD. Upon completion of the document by the CPA Firm, it is reviewed by the fiscal manager and the BOD Finance Committee. The fiscal manager review's the Form 990 for accuracy by comparing to the audited financials statements and other sources. Upon approval of Form 990 the document is signed by the authorized member of the Board and then processed by the organizations' management. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c The BOD attends an annual orientation meeting during which the Board Members are given a brief presentation on their duties and responsibilities. During this meeting, the Conflict of Interest Policy is reviewed for any possible conflicts and acted upon. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15 The BOD reviews the performance of the Executive Director based on accomplishments and overall performance of the foundation. In an executive session the salary structure is discussed and voted upon. The management team led by the Executive Director reviews the performance of the other key employees and provides recommendations to the BOD. During this meeting the BOD considers the committee's recommendations and votes accordingly.
