The three largest programs during fiscal year 2014 were Emergency Services, Housing Services, and Neighborhood Revitalization. The program service accomplishments include the following:Emergency Services - Emergency services programs are often the first contact a person has with the continuum of services offered by Primavera. There are five Emergency Services Programs, including: 1) Project Action for Veterans serving veterans and their families; 2) Emergency Men's Shelter; 3) Greyhound Family Shelter; 4) Homeless Prevention and Intervention (HIP); and 5) Casa Paloma Drop-In Hospitality Center for unaccompanied women experiencing homelessness. In FY 2014, the Emergency Services programs served a total of 4,538 individuals/households. 2,778 individuals had their immediate health and safety needs met; 1,001 men received temporary housing, food, and other services; 78 families received safe shelter; 223 homeless households received rent assistance enabling them to prevent homelessness or obtain permanent housing; 232 veterans and their families experiencing homelessnes/at risk of homelessness were served with 88% leaving the program with sustainable housing. 1326592 469152 Housing Services - The Primavera Foundation currently owns and operates eleven affordable rental housing facilities with a total of 140 units. Five of these are multifamily supportive housing facilities with a total of 97 rentable units. Primavera also has responsibility for managing three additional transitional housing programs at scattered sites, not owned by Primavera. Participation in Resource Specialist services and skills training programs is required at all supportive housing sites. Individual goals and service plans are developed with each participant, using a self-sufficiency self evaluation process that identifies and builds upon participant strengths. Emphasis is placed on employment/income, housing, and other areas of need that will ensure self-sufficiency once participants have completed the program. During the 2014 fiscal year, 221 households were served in supportive housing programs. Of those who proceeded out of these programs during the fiscal year, 95% left with some form of income, and 58% moved into permanent housing. 1338957 2179799 Neighborhood Revitalization - Primavera's neighborhood revitalization and investment strategies are place-based, multi-sector and collaborative, and include the critical component of resident engagement. Primavera uses real estate development activities as one of the many tools to achieve sustainable safe, affordable housing, resident leadership development, and healthy neighborhood investment. Most of Primavera's neighborhood revitalization activities take place in the City of South Tucson, a 1.2 square mile city. During fiscal year 2014, Primavera developed four single family homes for first time homebuyers, managed three community gardens, and completed developement of a 12 unit multifamily rental project, community center, and neighborhood park with a community garden, orchard, and basketball play area. Part X, Line 2: The Organization is exempt from federal and state income taxes under the Federal Internal Revenue Code ("IRC") Section 501(c)(3) and Arizona income tax laws, and is classified as other than a private foundation under IRC Section 509(a)(1). The Organization also qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction under IRC Section 170(b)(1)(a). Management has considered its tax positions in accordance with the accounting standard for uncertainty in income taxes and believes that all of the positions taken in its federal and state exempt organization tax returns are more likely than not to be sustained upon examination. In addition, Management is not aware of any matters which would cause the Organization to lose its tax-exempt status. The Organization's returns are subject to examination by federal and state taxing authorities, generally for three years and four years, respectively, after they are filed. Should the Organization ever be subject to interest and penalties related to unrecognized tax benefits, they would be classified in management and general expenses in its accompanying financial statements.
