Working with our national network and with faith-based and general advocacy coalitions, we urge support and more funding for proven, effective, federal programs that alleviate poverty, hunger and homelessness, provide equitable access to high quality health care and education, and address other pressing human and community needs. We advocate for federal spending priorities that meet the actual needs of the nation, and oppose overspending on the military budget. Our domestic policy program also addresses the nation's need for a rational, workable and compassionate immigration system, and immigrants' needs for fair process, assistance in re-settlement, and safety throughout the immigration process. We lobby for reforms in campaign finance laws to increase participation and faith in our democratic processes, and to reduce the excessive influence of large political campaign contributions.
