This allows residents to enjoy private living spaces that support not only their physical well-being but also their individuality and dignity. Residents wake when they choose, eat when they want and plan their day according to their preferences. The first Small House was completed in 2013 with residents moving in early 2014.The second Small House opened in November, 2014 and the third is scheduled to open September 2015. When renovations are complete Sarah Neuman will have seven Small House communities that will be home to 89 elders. Management, staff and the 1199 SEIU labor union worked as a team to develop and provide special training to implement this monumental shift in care provision. The Durst Center for Creative Arts and Alternative Therapies is a long established program at Jewish Home Lifecare Westchester to provide innovative, integrative therapies that complement traditional medical care. The Durst center improves elders' health and quality of life through hands-on, sensory experiences that stimulate memory and decrease stress and isolation. Creative arts provide an avenue for self-expression which is particularly meaningful for elders who are unable to communicate verbally.Jewish Home Lifecare, Sarah Neuman Center, believes that elders are entitled to live their lives with dignity and meaning. The Day Program served 53 clients in 2014. The Medical Adult Day programs are offered for individuals with chronic health conditions.
