Interest and penalties, if any, are included in expenses in the statement of activities. As of December 31, 2014, Caris had no uncertain tax positions that qualify for recognition or disclosure in the financial statements. Caris files information tax returns in the U.S. and various states. Caris is generally no longer subject to U.S. federal and state income tax examinations by tax authorities for years before 2011. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11 The Form 990 is prepared and reviewed by an independent certified public accounting firm and reviewed by the Board Treasurer and internal management before filing with the IRS. A copy is also provided to the Board prior to filing. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c The Conflict of Interest policy is reviewed annually at the Board of Directors meeting. Both board members and officers sign the policy. Disclosures are made to the President who brings the matters to the board's attention. A member with a conflict of interest regarding a certain issue abstains from voting on the issue as well as the deliberation regarding the issue. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15 Compensation review and salary increases for the organization's President and officers are established and approved by the Board of Director members. This process is documented in the Board minutes. This is done after a salary review of comparable positions at other ministries. This process is completed annually. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, line 19 The Organization's governing documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements are available upon request. Form 990, Part XI, Line 2c The organization has a committee that assumes responsibility for oversight of the audit of its financial statements and selection of an independent accountant. This process has not changed since the prior year.
