Special emphasis in 2014 was devote to the provision of comprehensive marketing communications support to campaign for the two ballot initiatives filed by the MNA. . The Department of Legislation and Government Affairs continued working on the legislative agenda of the Association with special emphasis on the two ballot initiatives that became pieces of legislation in January 2014. This included attending hearings, meetings with legislators, lobby days and many literature drops up at the state house. Accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America require the Association to evaluate tax positions taken, including the position that the Association qualifies as a tax-exempt organization, and recognize a tax liability (or asset) if the Association has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination by the Internal Revenue Service.
