Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The form 990 is reviewed by the Chair and the President before being filed with the IRS. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 The Board of Directors is provided with comparable market data from nonprofits in this geographic area to determine compensation of the Executive Director and other employees. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 Basic information about the Grassroots Policy Project, such as the Form 990, shall be made available, upon request, in a timely manner, and with charge to individuals who request it. Grassroots Policy Project received an approval for the first 990 extension to August 15, 2015. Our record should reflect that a second extension was filed in a timely fashion, but the preparer inadvertently mailed the second extension without a signature. We were not made aware of this error until September 21, 2015. We promptly worked to file our 2014 form 990 and at the recommendation of the IRS, we chose to file electronically. We believe this clerical error by the preparer should not penalize the small not-for-profit organization, which has always filed within the appropriate deadlines. In the future, all filings, including extensions, will be filed electronically, in order to avoid this from happening in the future. We take the responsibility of filing this informational return very seriously and we are embarrassed that this error happened. As it was not an intentional mistake, we hope the IRS will not assess any late filing penalties.
