Other Part II Line 1, Section (h): The purpose of all grants made in 2014 was to support Down syndrome cognitive research. Pt VI, Line 2 A family relationship exists between director Robert Schoen and Mary Beth Schoen who are brother and sister. A family relationship also exists between director Daniel Flatley and Patricia White Flatley who are husband and wife. Pt VI, Line 8b No committee's exist with the authority to act on behalf of the governing body. All meetings of the governing body and actions undertaken by the governing body were documented. Pt VI, Line 11b Form 990 is provided to all directors and members of the governing body of Research Down Syndrome to review before it is filed, and a meeting between the Chairman/Treasurer, President/Director, and the Form 990 preparer takes place before Form 990 is filed. Pt VI, Line 12c The Board of Directors of Research Down Syndrome reviews the written conflict of interest policy and disclosures annually, and conducts periodic reviews to insure compliance with the written policy. Pt VI, Line 15a The compensation of the Executive Director/President of Research Down Syndrome is determined by the Board of Directors, and all deliberations and decisions of the board regarding compensation are documented. Compensation is determined based on a number of factors including current trends in non-profit salaries of similar organizations across the country and budget figures for the 2014 calendar year. During 2014, no other officers or key employees received compensation from Research Down Syndrome so question 15b in Part VI does not apply for 2014. Pt VI, Line 19 The organization makes its governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements available to the public upon request.
