RIPHI works collaboratively with many institutions, including the Rhode Island Department of Health, to advance this mission. RIPHI oversaw and administered a number of grant-funded programs related to reducing health disparities for both chronic and infectious diseases. Those include, but are not limited to: a large HIV and HCV screening, treatment and cure program, as well as Faith in Action. Faith in Action is a coalition of faith and community leaders who work collaboratively to reduce racial disparities in HIV and HCV infection among African Americans; this program screens and treats people for HIV and engages in related health promotion campaigns. RIPHI also oversees the Rhode Island hepatitis C action Coalition, a coalition of health care providers, researchers and others who work collectively to reduce the prevalence of HCV in Rhode Island. RIPHI also oversaw the POWER UP PE program which is a program focused on enhancing physical- education training for PE teachers in teachers in Rhode Island public schools.In addition, RIPHI is also involved in a number of geographicalIy- focused health promotion programs in Rhode Island, commonly known as Health Equity Zones. RIPHI also is home to the Food on the Move program, a produce market designed to alleviate food insecurity that serves food deserts, food swamps and work sites across the entire state of Rhode Island.
