Our purpose is to demonstrate the love and hope of Christ to people in their time of need, and to provide resources, training, relationship and support to enable them to rise above their current circumstances. Form 990, Part III, Line 1 To advance the kingdom of God through the gospel of Jesus Christ and to do missionary, relief and rescue work of all kinds. Form 990, Part III, Line 4a Water Street Mission provides food, shelter and comprehensive care to the homeless in Lancaster County. We meet the immediate needs of a homeless man, woman or child by offering them a healthy meal, a warm place to sleep and access to a shower. Clients then have the opportunity to take advantage of an assortment of services at the Mission. Through Christian faith and guidance, we work with clients to improve their physical health, spiritual health, financial acumen, life and vocational skills and housing opportunities. It is our goal to foster an atmosphere of accountability and responsibility so a person can leave here better prepared to live a sustainable lifestyle. Ministries of Water Street Mission include: Emergency Day Shelter, Residential Ministries with Case Managers, Access Center with Life Coaches, Enrichment Center, Food Services, Outreach Ministries. For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2015 there were 1,616 unique individuals provided shelter for at least one night and 112,705 meals were served. In addition there were 29,277 volunteer hours donated by the community. Form 990, Part III, Line 4b Teen Haven: A ministry to youth in the city of Lancaster, PA. Our desire is to see urban youth grow in their faith in Christ and become better equipped to positively impact their churches, families and neighborhoods for God. Our ministry seeks to actively partner with and serve other churches and ministries in the community as we all mentor and disciple the youth in our community. We offer evening programming throughout the school year ministering to middle and high school students and a summer camp program geared for elementary and middle school children. Over 200 youth participated in Teen Haven programs through out the school year, over 50 children participated in our day camp program, and hundreds more were involved in special events, activities and partnerships with local churches. An additional focus of Teen Haven is leadership development, and the RESTORE Leadership Development program runs year round. Over 25 students participated in RESTORE, developing leadership skills, godly character and integrity. These leaders help to provide supervision and guidance for the programs involving younger teens and youth. Form 990, Part III, Line 4c Wonder Club Early Learning Center is a pre-school and kindergarten program geared toward children from low-income families in Lancaster City. The focus of the program is to provide a high-quality Christ-centered education while helping children develop a life-long love of God and a life-long love of learning. Accessibility to quality pre-K education is not yet universal, and private pre-schools and kindergarten classrooms are not financially accessible to many families. Through the support of local businesses utilizing the PA Education Improvement Tax Credits, Wonder Club is able to offer affordable tuition rates for even the lowest income families. Over 40 students were enrolled in Wonder Club last year, and 90% of them received at least 85% scholarship. Of the 40+ children in Wonder Club 100% of them scored at "low-risk" of "established" levels on the Dibels literacy success indicator and 95% of the kindergartners scored at or above age level for literacy, and 85% scored at or above for mathematics. Additionally, the Wonder Club program provide scholarship funds to 32 graduates so they could continue pursuing a Christian private school education.
