VFMN works to represent victim/survivors of relationship abuse and member programs providing direct services; challenge systems & institutions; promote social change; and support, educate, and connect member programs. VFMN does this through technical assistance to member programs, providing learning and leadership opportunities to increase the capacity of member programs, leading public awareness around domestic violence, and through public policy that is trauma-informed and responsive to the various needs of survivors in MN. VFMN is the only agency in the state that tracks those killed due to domestic violence in Minnesota in our annual Domestic Violence Homicide Report. The Homicide Report tracks and honors those killed due to domestic violence, as well as provides robust recommendations for policy makers, systems players, and community members to prevent domestic violence incidents and homicides. VFMN also curates the Clothesline Project in order to honor and memorialize each victim lost to domestic violence. VFMN also holds a Survivor Fund as part of its economic empowerment program. The advocate identified survivors who might be a fit with the fund. The survivor and advocate completed an application for the fund, identifying their one-time financial need that would positively impact their credit and/or housing stability. The completed application was reviewed by Violence Free Minnesota (VFMN) staff person and then submitted for payment. Applications are all maintained by VFMN. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b A copy of the 990 is provided to each board member for review. At the next board meeting, the 990 is discussed and a motion to approve is made. The 990 is officially approved by the signature of the Co-Executive Director. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c Officers, directors, and employees are required to fill out a form annually disclosing any conflicts of interest annually or prior to acceptance of a position. The Co-Executive Directors will make a determination if there is a conflict when situations arise. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15 To determine Executive Director salary, the Board of Directors review and approve compensation packages based on comparable data from the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits Salary Survey and comparable organizations. The deliberation and decision making process is adequately documented. In addition, a 3% raise is approved with every budget and that raise gets split among all staff.
