SARSEF offers professional development to teachers in faculty meetings, using the scientific process and engineering design process to teachers, in-class presentations,and family science nights all free of charge to the schools, teachers, and families. Over 80 professionals share their world to motivate children to complete a research project of their own. Professional Development provides 50 teachers with best practices in guiding their students through the research process, and $100 in materials. 4970 Imagine Your STEM Future:STEM Mentoring Program HS Girls in Sunnyside This is a collaborative project between Raytheon, Desert View High School in the Sunnyside School District, and SARSEF. In its third year, over 125 girls, grades 9-12,benefit from a single-gender classroom environment to build a community of STEM leaders through hands-on science and engineering projects with women mentors from Raytheon and SARSEF. 3115 Mad Science offers afterschool hands-on, brains-on STEM learning experiences for students in grades K-5. This fun and supportive environment builds childrens enthusiasm about mathematics and science and promotes healthy science identities during the critical years of transition into middle school. 2132 ACES (Applied Career Exploration in Science) Camp A 4-day summer camp for 50 middle school girls designed to expose them to a wide variety of careers, to provide a path to potential success, and to spark their interest in high education in the STEM fields.
