Young Marine Explores (YME) is a Bahamian non-profit organization whose mission is to educate and inspire youths to become the leaders needed to address the social, economic and environmental challenges in the Bahamas. The community is very much involved in this project as up to 60 students benefited from participation in the after school and Saturday ocean classroom field trips. 12923 1 0 12923 82% of the total grants issued was given to the Young Marine Explorers (YME) Conservation Program Development. Where 60 students participated in the after school and Saturday ocean classroom field trips. 10% of the grant went to the Bahamas National Trust Discovery group where some 30 kids visited the Blue Hole National Park in Andros, Bahamas. The remaining 8% of the grant was used to purchase a chainsaw to assist the fly fishing guides in Long Island with the clean-up efforts after hurricane Jaoquin in October 2015. Form 990, Part III, Line 2 BSCC hosted the Bahamas Fly Fishing Industry Association Annual General Meeting/conference held June 25, 2015 held in New Providence, Bahamas and was responsible for transporting the fly fishing guides from the other islands in the Bahamas to the event. Expenses included air and ground transportation, accommodation and meals. The focus was on Education on the Industry Best Practices and the proposed Fly Fishing legislation and regulations to ensure the sustainability of the industry for future generations. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6 Members from the fishing industry can make application to become members of the Bahamas Sportfishing Association. They act mainly as a support base. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b Form 990 together with supplemental information is forwarded to all governing board members via email Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 documents were emailed to governing board members, however we will post all returns and necessary documents on our website going forward. The organization does not have a designated staff and work completed on the return was voluntary. The Treasurer is extremely busy and had to complete the return when she was able to find the time. At present Four (4) of the board members complete voluntary work on behalf of BSCC.
