These include expenditures for advocacy on maintaining current tax provisions for forest owners, advocacy for promoting the carbon neutrality of forest biomass, and renovation costs for NAFO's DC offices. Government Relations: The Government Relations Program included expenses related to its dedicated government relations personnel, retainer fees for outside consultants, funding for undertakings of mutual interest with other associations, and expenses related to subscription services and software to support NAFO's advocacy efforts. DC Meeting: The DC Meeting Program included expenses related to the execution and production of NAFO's May meeting in Washington, D.C. The purpose of the meeting is to report the business of the Association to the Board of Directors and membership, as well as to review the Association's progress on strategic objectives. The board meeting is preceded by a day of advocacy meetings in Congress and with the Presidential Administration. Annual Meeting: The Annual Meeting Program includes expenses related to the execution and production of NAFO's annual meeting. As stated in NAFO's bylaws, the purpose of the annual meeting is to report the business of the association to the board and membership. The board approves the association's annual budget and strategic plan. New directors and volunteers are also approved. The board meeting is preceded by a half day of educational panels. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 3 Association Management Group (AMG) manages all aspects of the Organization's operations in accordance with the Organization's bylaws and policies. AMG provides staffing and infrastructure for non-profit organizations. Operations may include but are not limited to: administration, membership, finance/accounting, convention/tradeshow/meeting planning, education, marketing, information technology and government relations. The amount paid to AMG totaled $2,262,584 for the year ended December 31, 2015. The Association's President and CEO is an employee of and was compensated by AMG.
