<Desc>GiveLight Foundation Program Service-2015We continued to witness a healthy growth in 2015 and expanded our service to two more countries. We began to do work in Turkey and Nepal bringing our total countries to 11 and supporting more than 800 orphans. Our income reached $1M mark within 10 years of operation and we hired 3 employees: Chief Executive Officer, Operation Lead and Web Developer. These three roles are critical in ensuring Givelight's continued growth and managing multiple projects as well as growing number of volunteers nationwide.2015 Accomplishment by country:1. Aceh Home, Indonesia A. Five of our oldest children graduated from college. Three in Aceh, one in Jakarta and one from Al Azhar University in Cairo. We are really proud of their accomplishments and they certainly set great examples for our younger kids. We had a volunteer from Colorado, Amir Foy who stayed at our home for a week and interacted with the kids. He did a few educational programs for the kids including holding competition in different areas: English, Speech and Art. He also took the kids on their favorite outdoor activities such as swimming in the lake and hiking Our kids continued to show high motivation to learn new skills, especially English and Art. They also won many trophies from school and the city in diverse areas including Math Olympics, Running, Speech and Quran reading competition. Many of our kids are now in High School and getting ready for College. They all know that they have all resources they need to go far in life from examples set by our older children.B. Supporting orphans in Banda Aceh, IndonesiaWe continue to sponsor orphans who are living with poor relatives in Banda Aceh . The kids are doing well in school and some are already in high school getting ready for College in the next few years. We have a dedicated volunteer on the ground who monitors their progress. The children also send emails to our US team sharing pictures, positive progress and their live experiences.2. Pakistan/KashmirWe continue to sponsor 160 orphans who are living with poor relatives/single moms in earthquake affected areas of Pakistan and Kashmir through partnership with Helping Hands Relief and Development (HHRD). We received annual update on the kids pictures, bio and progress. Due to unstable political climate we have not been able to attract any volunteers to visit Pakistan in the recent years. We hope that will change in the near future. 3. BangladeshA. We continued to provide one meal a day for 345 orphans in Darus Sunat, Bangladesh. These children were only having two meals prior to getting help from Give Light. As we did in the prior year, in summer 2015 we sponsored new clothes for and received pictures showing their happiness. We also distributed new blankets and pillows for winter. B. In our home in Savar, we now have 37 girls and they are of 8-13 years of age. The home also includes a school and we have 3 teachers and 2 care takers who live at the home. Our goal is to establish a high quality school that will be accredited by the government. Our long term goal is to send the girls to pursue higher education all the way to College and 4. AfghanistanWe continued to sponsor 11 orphans from Kabul through partnership with Omeid International. They continue to get scholarship to study abroad in India. Many of them are now in High School and preparing for College. Many are top performers in school and have been sent as delegation for National Competition in the capital. We also hope to build a permanent home one day when political situation is more stable and if we get donate land to be consistent with our model in other countries.5. HaitiWe restarted sponsorship project in Haiti for 20 orphans through partnership with Helping Hands, a credible organization with good track record. We look forward toseeing positive growth in all the kids we are sponsoring in Haiti.6. SomaliaWe continue to sponsor 50 orphans in Somalia and the kids are doing well academically. Through this sponsorship, those kids are fed, clothed and are able to getgood education. We plan to continue this work in Somalia and a few more countries in Africa. Most notably Morocco and South Africa.7. Sri LankaOur boys are doing well and motivated to learn. Outside of school they love to play cricket and badminton. We had a volunteer from the Bay Area, Mary Martel who is a nurse volunteering there for one week. A donor sponsored a cricket tournament for forty boys and the whole village came to watch. There were trophies and lunchcelebration following the successful tournament. The next day she took the kids on an hour bus ride to a beach in Colombo. As was the tradition in the prior year, the kids also participated in Speech, Art and Singing competition. The kids also got to benefit from onlike/Skyp lessons provided by an MIT Alumni based in the Bay Area. They do sessions every week end focusing of English grammar and vocabulary. We hope to build on this success in the coming year.8. San Francisco Bay Area, California, United StatesWe continue to provide scholarship and mentorship for 10 orphans living in the San Francisco Bay Area. These children go to Silicon Valley Academy and also public schools. We provide each one of them with a mentor to ensure they have one onone attention. One of the activities they enjoy were being invited to lunch or dinner, so we ensure they have a gathering at least once a quarter.9. CambodiaOur home in Cambodia is thriving with 50 children. The home itself, set in a rubber plantation has lots of greenery and plants around it. The kids go to public school, which is right in front of the house. When they first came to our home, they were shy to talk about themselves. Now they are confident to state big dreams of becoming doctors, engineers, lawyers and scholars. They also show progress in speaking English, especially the older ones.10. MoroccoAfter a few years of working to secure the permit to build a home, we finalized the last step in the process. The land is located in the city of Oujda and the home will be a sanctuary for 40 girls. While we are doing the construction, we are also sponsoring 17 orphans in Oujda, Morocco since Jan 2013. These kids live with poor relatives and some with struggling single moms. Some kids are also already in High School and we will continue to help until they attend College.11. TurkeyOur founder and 3 volunteers travelled to Turkey last year to distribute 2000 "blankets of love" to Syrian orphans and refugees. While there, our volunteers personally met with Syrian orphans and seeing where they live and how they survive with so little was heartbreaking.Since then GiveLight has launched several initiatives including: Distribution of jackets to 300 orphans Sponsoring activities and dinner for 400 orphans Sponsoring 100 orphans by sending them to schoolThe cost to support one child is $50 per month, which covers school tuition, uniforms, books, shoes, field trips and snacks. FUTURE GOALS:Our goal for 2016-2018 is to expand our service to more countries where there are many needy orphans and we have identified trustworthy partners/volunteers.Specifically: a. Morocco. The construction has started and our goal is to complete the home by Fall 2017 or sooner.b. All other countries. We hope to standardize our processes in countries where we operate, especially in fine-tuning our operational philosophy, financial reporting and procedures as well as expansion strategies.c. Nepal. We will continue to sponsor at least 10 children and potentially mored. Turkey. We started sponsoring 100 Syrian orphans to go to school in Istanbul. Our goal is to grow that number because there are more than 60,000 Syrian orphans just in that citye. South Africa. We are planning to expand to SA in 2017. Sadly, due to HIV/Aid and migration from poor neighboring countries, there are about 4 million orphans in SA.As in the past 11 years, we are committed to our work. We have seen a tremendous growth in our donor base and volunteers. We now have a strong base of volunteers in major cities such as Chicago, New Jersey, Southern California, Seattle. They remain motivated to donate their time, energy and expertise based on the shared dream of helping as many orphans as we can. From sponsoring 50 orphans in one country in 2005, we have grown manifold and are now supporting more than 800 + orphans in 11 countries. Our goal for 2016/17 would be to reach 1200 orphans in 12 countries. With hard work and dedication, we are confident that we can save thousands more in the years to come.</Desc>
