Through partnership with surrounding school districts we offer quality hands-on and minds-on educational tours and programs to over 16,590 students and many other visitors from all over southern California. we are proud that we allow our students and visitors to hold history in their hands. touching and holding things is not only allowed but encouraged. the students, guided by trained instructors, participate in a wide range of inclusive programs that meet current standards set by the California department of education in social studies, English, performing arts and science. we also offer additional preschool early literacy programs, a children's garden, and agricultural and ecological learning opportunities. our public hours continue to grow as we see more of our community visiting and being more engaged in our activities. our educational programs continue to grow as we have developed over 20 partnerships with various organizations. the local community enjoys our "gospel swamp" natural area, which covers about 4 acres of museum property, and is one of the few places in central orange county with federally designated and protected wetlands. we are in the process of a native plant restoration program with the help of many volunteer groups from local high schools, colleges, corporations and other community groups. this will help preserve and protect at least a portion of orange county's natural environment and will benefit and support local wildlife. additionally, we have made progress at our Gospel Swamp Farm, where visitors learn about horticulture and sustainable farming.
