(ii)Leadership Training Conference - TCDA host a statewide leadership conference for all college presidents, local board members and college staff to better acquaint the post-secondary community with advances in careers paths and student success. Guest speakers include noted speakers in the fields of education, future career trends, new technologies, campus security, and legislation effecting post-secondary education. (iii)Fact Book & Directory and Newsletter -The TCDA Fact Book and Board Directory serves as a marketing tool for the colleges profiling the prominent individuals who serve on the Technical College System of Georgia State Board and the local boards of directors. It contains contact information on all current and former board members and informs the public of the industry leaders who volunteer their time and talent in order to make the Technical College System of Georgia the premier two-year college system in the nation. TCDA has colleges who are nationally ranked due to their unique training programs. TCDAs bi-annual newsletter is used as a communication and information tool to advise current and former board members, as well as State Board members, college presidents and staff on current issues of concern in education, be it Pell Grant renewal, Move On When Ready, or Complete College Georgia, and trends we see emerging in the nation. For example, the autonomous car may be the prescription for solving many metro traffic problems across the nation. Every major car manufacturer has pledged to have self-driving cars in mass production by 2020. Who will work on these cars? What programs need to be developed and technologies secured to be able to produce, repair and install top-mounted laser scanners that some of the cars, such as the Google Cars, will need to navigate them? The newsletter brings questions on future careers to bear. (iv)Technical College System of Georgia State Meetings - In accordance with Georgia Statues 20-4-10, the Technical College System of Georgia has an appointed a State Board of 23 individuals responsible for the courses and direction of the 22 colleges in the TCSG system. It is their responsibility to ensure that all colleges provide world-class careers that are both current and well positioned for the next century. All TCSG colleges are SACS accredited and must remain so in order for degrees to transfer to the university system.Local boards of director are mandated by Georgia State Law 20-4-11 to assist and act as an extension to State Board of Directors. The TCDA is responsible for training and developing the 22 local boards of directors to comply and assist the State Board in their mission. The TCDA, in their role as educators of the local boards, helps to support both the State Board and local boards through annual meetings and dissemination of critical information necessary for the success of the colleges. Such events include the ten State Board meetings, annual leadership conference, Student and Adult Learners of the Year Programs and the annual State of the System address from the TCSG Commissioner. Where TCDA programs impact the message, TCDA will provide literature, speakers, technology or food to assist with the particular function.
