In 2015, EMI worked on 72 projects in 23 countries, sending out teams that totaled 163 volunteers and 43 interns. These projects represent design work that will enable the construction of hospitals, schools, orphanages, water pipelines, ministry centers, youth camps, churches and places to live for some of the poorest people in the hardest to reach corners of the world. Part I, line 3: The Organization tracked expenditures in accordance with the accrual basis of accounting. Foreign expenditures were tracked using grant feedback reporting as described in Schedule F, Part IV. Additional foreign expenses were tracked using monthly expense reports from each region. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c Board members sign annual conflict of interest statements. Going forward, officers will also sign annual statements. The signed statements are reviewed by the Director of Finance. If a conflict were to arise, the individual would abstain from any discussions or deliberations and would abstain from voting. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15 The independent board reviews and approves the CEO'S salary. Currently, officers' salaries are reviewed by the CEO. The independent board of directors reviews the compensation criteria of all employees by comparing the current salary structures of both the ministry world and design field world. From there EMI scales back the salary levels using 4 criteria: 1. years of experience, 2. education, 3. professional capability and 4. pastoral ability Compensation decisions are recorded in the board minutes and compensation packages are reviewed periodically for appropriateness.
