Form 990, Part III, Line 2 Donor Services InFaith Community Foundation (the Foundation) advanced its mission through a number of donor and program services in 2016. -Donor services resources were refined and marketed to help donors make the most of their giving plans. These donor resources include: -Support recommending grants from funds, monitoring the status of grant requests and expediting grants to meet special requests by donors; -Assistance creating and refining giving goals; -Research charities that match the donors charitable goals and values; -Verification of charities eligible to receive grant support; -Post-grant follow-up to learn how grants were used; -Discuss unique grantmaking scenarios (e.g., international grants); -Assistance to add successor advisors to a donor advised fund; -Schedule a personal visit or phone review of your charitable fund; or, -Connect donors with gift planners to make additional gifts. -The Foundations website, inFaithFound.org, was refreshed to improve donor access to giving options and tools, and to resources to serve donor needs. The Foundations online donor portal, DonorView, was also enhanced to ease donor access to fund information and grantmaking history. -Through the Foundations annual donor survey, donor preferences for frequency of contact and communication channels were identified and integrated into annual donor communications plans and donor visit program. WomenGive inFaith The Foundation launched its WomenGive InFaith campaign in 2016. This nationwide campaign brings women together through workshops, scholarships, investments and giving circles to achieve long-term change for women, girls and families. Through half-day workshops across the U.S., women learned about charitable giving, financial planning and ways to strengthen womens capacity to create change. More than $24,000 was granted toward ending family violence, WomenLead scholarship, and Eco-Faith youth internship support through workshop giving circles. Each donor gift and charitable fund play an integral role in InFaith's mission, as together we change lives and spread joy by sharing our blessings with the world. -Grants from InFaith Donor Advised Funds, Endowment Funds and Collaborative Funds totaled $16 million in 2016. -The majority of InFaith grants, 84%, were distributed to charities recommended by donors through InFaith Donor Advised Funds. Another 13% of grant distributions were from Organizational Endowment Funds of churches and faith-based nonprofits, and 3% were from InFaith Collaborative Funds and special projects. -Donor satisfaction remained high at 95% in 2016. Donor feedback through surveys, focus groups and personal conversations also provided valuable ideas on how InFaith can better serve our donors. -The Foundation continually monitors its three investment portfolios Growth, Mission and Income to support gift and grant activity and fulfil donors charitable intentions. The Foundation adheres to the investment fundamentals of professional active management, allocation among seven asset classes and a long-term investment strategy for donor gift assets. -To maintain accountability as stewards of Foundation gifts and funds, the Foundation kept donors informed of charitable fund performance and activity through quarterly reports, online access, annual report and an annual investment call featuring the Foundations investment advisor, Cambridge Associates. Donors continue to be encouraged to call the Foundation for any questions they have on their charitable funds. -InFaith earned its 21st consecutive clean audit from independent auditors in 2016. InFaith also earned high ratings from Charity Navigator and GuideStar for sound fiscal management, transparency and commitment to excellence. -The Foundation conducted thorough due diligence processes with multiple checks and balances to verify that all grantees were qualifying recipients and in good standing. -Types of charities recommended to receive support include: churches (31.5%); education (17.5%); human services (17.5%); faith-based nonprofits (14%); health services (7%); arts and culture (3%); environmental concerns (2%); disaster relief (2.5%); and other (5%). -Assets of the Foundation reached $377.5 million as of December 31, 2016. Form 990, Part III, Line 4b Program Initiatives of the InFaith Collaborative Funds The Foundations mission and vision are driven by a rich Christian tradition of working together to address important and diverse societal issues with creativity, passion and purpose. Through the Foundations Collaborative Funds, the Foundation works alongside public charities at the ground level, and creates strategic responses to issues facing our shared community through a strategic grant process. In 2016, Collaborative Fund grants helped: 1) train church communities to recognize and support victims of domestic abuse; 2) international communities rebuild following natural disasters; and 3) faith communities assist in caring for Gods creation. Following are 2016 grant highlights from InFaith Collaborative Funds. Ending Family Violence Initiative As part of the Ending Family Violence Initiative, the Foundation granted $52,000 to FaithTrust for the seventh FaithTrust/InFaith gathering of The Safe & Healthy Churches Initiative in Asheville, North Carolina. The training equips parish-based teams of church and lay leaders to identify and respond to domestic violence and sexual abuse through in-person sessions and webinars. More than 75 church leaders attended the training and discussed the imperative need for programs like this in rural communities. Form 990, Part III, Line 4c Creation Care Initiative As part of the Creation Care Initiative, the Foundation distributed $30,000 to EcoFaith Recovery to support grassroots leadership of over 200 existing EcoFaith leaders, train 40 new leaders, mentor 5 youth interns and develop their leadership capacity, and offer two weekend-long 'EcoFaith Institutes.' Part of the grant was also given to Agape Kure Beach Ministries to host a Lutheran Outdoors Ministries Environmental Educational and Group Challenge Initiative Intensive. Form 990, Part III, Line 4d InFaith Field of Interest Funds InFaith Field of Interest: Health Services As part of the Health Field of Interest Fund, InFaith granted $10,000 to Dream of Wild Health (DWH) to 'grow seeds and leaders.' One of the longest continually operating Native American organizations in Minnesota, DWHs mission is to restore health and well-being in the Native community by recovering knowledge of and access to healthy Indigenous foods, medicines and lifeways. Disaster Response Field of Interest Fund As part of the Disaster Response Field of Interest Fund, the Foundation granted $15,000 to our long-time partner Camp Noah, a program of Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. Camp Noah exists to bring hope and healing to communities that have been impacted by disaster through specialized programming for children. The grant supported two camps held on Native American reservations in South Dakota, a first for Camp Noah. In addition to significant challenges of poverty and unemployment, the communities of the Pine Ridge and Lower Brule Reservations were impacted by straight-line winds, severe storms and flooding in May 2015. ELCA Field of Interest Fund As part of the ELCA Field of Interest Fund, the Foundation granted $10,000 to the Central States Synod of the ELCA in Kansas City, Kansas, to support the establishment of a free medical clinic for refugees on the site of Della Lambs Refugee Services office through participation in the KC for Refugees initiative. Human Services Field of Interest Fund As part of the Human Services Field of Interest Fund, the Foundation granted $10,000 to the Lutheran Services of Georgia for people with disabilities. Facilitating Advocacy, Care, Education & Shelter (FACES) provides opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to be active members of their community and to maximize the opportunity to develop relationships that bring support into their lives. Education Field of Interest Fund A $5,000 grant provided a scholarship for a high school senior who is an active member of a church with an endowment Fund at InFaith Community Foundation. The 2016 scholarship recipient attends a college in the Northwest.
