Accounting standards require the Council to evaluate tax positions and recognize a tax liability (or asset) if the Council has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The Council has analyzed the tax positions taken and has concluded that as of September 30, 2016, there are no uncertain positions taken or expected to be taken that would require the recognition of a liability (or asset) or disclosure in the financial statements. The Council may be subject to audit by the IRS; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11 Before filing, the Form 990 is reviewed by the Organization's finance team and a member of the Board's Finance Committee. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c The Organization monitors and enforces compliance with its conflict of interest policy by requiring that any possible conflicts be brought to the attention of Management and the Board. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15a The compensation of the Organization's top management official is determined during an annual review by the Board. The Board sets the compensation based on the acheivement of goals and comparability to other Councils.
