Staff provides the support needed to supplement an employer's regular training and supervision and help individuals attain their goal of independence. Staff provides guidance, support, training, and coordination for people with serious and persistent mental illness. The goals are to provide the least restrictive setting consistent with the needs of the individual, create a home-like environment that ensures the residents' health and safety and treat residents with dignity and respect, while providing services with the purpose of community integration and acceptance. Form 990, Part XI, Line 9, Changes in Net Assets: During 2016, the Organization changed its estimate methodology for valuing donated goods inventory. Previously, donated goods inventory was only valued at the time it was offered for sale on the sales floor, and the valuation estimate was based on 1/12 of the annual donated inventory contribution revenue. The organization receives a substantial amount of donated goods during the year. At the end of its fiscal year, the organization estimates the value of donated goods on hand and records the amount as inventory with a corresponding adjustment to contributions by applying two methodologies. These methodologies are commonly used by other Goodwill organizations: Donated goods inventory in the warehouse and stockrooms are valued by applying an average cost per container depending upon the classification. The average cost per classification is calculated by analyzing the sales prices, with a sell-through estimate, for containers holding similar goods; Donated goods located on the sales floor in each store are valued by calculating an average of one month's worth of donated sales using the last three months of donated sales. In addition, the Organization began valuing donated goods inventory in warehouses and stockrooms. Previously, this inventory had not been valued until it was offered for sale on the sales floor. A retrospective adjustment to reflect this change in accounting principle was recorded to increase net assets and donated goods inventory as of December 31, 2015, in the amount of $1,954,485.
