Special Initiatives and Projects - Western Energy Alliance is currently involved in litigation regarding the Bureau of Land Management's Venting and Flaring rule; Federal Leasing; and the Greater Sage Grouse resource management. The Alliance also has special initiatives to support our Utah Representative and has created Western Wire, which is a policy focused news services for its members. Membership Services - Membership dollars fund critical advocacy programs that promote demand for oil and natural gas as well as protect supply at regional and federal levels. The function of the Board of Advisors is to elect the Board of Directors and serve in an advisory capacity to the Board. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b The Form 990 is made available to all members of the Board of Directors prior to filing the return. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c All voting board members and management are asked to complete conflict of interest statements on an annual basis. Potential conflicts are reviewed by the board and management before action is taken. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15 Seven independent board members including the Chairman, a Vice Chairman, and two former Chairmen comprise the compensation committee. None of these board members have a conflict of interest as defined in the regulations. The board members of the committee evaluated the compensation for all employees of the organization. In establishing the total compensation amounts, they reviewed data for similarly qualified persons in functionally comparable positions at similarly situated trade and other associations. In addition, they considered overall industry employment conditions because of their relevance. All of these factors were considered in the final determination of the compensation amounts and were contemporaneously documented and retained.
