Through the CHS Partnership for Adoptions program we recruit, train, and provide lifetime support to adoptive families of children in the custody of social services because they have been abused, neglected, or abandoned. Temporary infant care is the temporary provision of care for an infant in a foster family when the child's birth family is unable to care for the infant while decisions are made regarding the infant's future. If adoption is the chosen option, CHSVA identifies and educates prospective adoptive parents about adoption, conducts a home study, and provides the family support until the adoption is finalized. 221207 17426 The Possibilities Project provides housing and supportive services to youth who have aged out of foster care without a family. The supportive services provided include food, clothing, educational and employment assistance. Housing is provided through a partnership that CHS has with the Better Housing Coalition. The goal of the program is to position the youth to be productive and independent citizens. 170883 12430 The Post Adoption Program provides parent coaching, family support, and respite services to children and families before and after adoptions are finalized. The goal of the program is to insure that adoptions are and continue to be successful. This requires the evaluation of tax positions taken or expected to be taken in the course of preparing the Society's tax returns to determine whether the tax positions are "more-likely-than-not" of being sustained "when challenged or "when examined" by the applicable tax authority. Tax positions not deemed to meet the "more-likely-than-not"threshhold would be recorded as a tax expense and liability in the current year. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c CHS enforces a conflict of interest (COI) policy which is reviewed on an ongoing basis. CHS' COI covers any agency decision maker (including officers and directors, managers and key employees) as well as agency staff. The policy addresses potential and actual conflicts - whether they are discovered before or after a transaction has occured. The policy outlines how the agency's policy is to avoid any conflicts of interest that materially or adversely affect the agency. On an annual basis all agency decision makers and staff are provided a written copy of the CHS COI policy and asked to review its provisions. They are then required to disclose any actual or potential conflicts and sign a statement indicating that they have reviewed the policy, understand the policy and have revealed any conflicts - including those on a professional, financial or personal level. As stipulated in the signed policy statement, all parties are required to reveal conflicts throughout the year. The determination of whether a conflict exists is made by either the chair of the CHS board, chair of the CHS Board Development Committee or the CHS President/CEO. The procedure for making this determination is outlined in the policy. The COI policy is enforced by the CHS Board Executive Committee or the CHS Development Committee. Under the COI policy, CHS may use outside advisors if necessary and appropriate to review the potential conflict. If a conflict is determined to exist, corrective action and/or discipline will be imposed as deemed appropriate. Such action my include prohibiting the persons with a conflict from participating in the agency's governing body or from engaging in deliberations and decision making in their capacity as a board or staff member. Actions may also include having the person removed/resigned from their position at CHS.
