Together with educators, government agencies, faith-based organizations, and compassionate community members and donors, HYC is helping to bring a positive future to this nearly forgotten population. 0 0 560473 147550 Homeless Youth Connection (HYC) provides youth experiencing homelessness with basic necessities such as, clothing, food, hygiene items, and school supplies, case management, host families if needed, as well as resources for medical care, counseling and tutoring. In addition to basic necessities, HYC provides youth with life skills training and mentoring. HYC serves youth ages 13 to 19 who have been identified as homeless according to McKinney-Vento. HYC partners with 50+ high schools throughout Maricopa County. Since 2010, HYC has served more than 1,200 youths, ages 13 through 19. Last year, HYC assisted 400 homeless youth. Of those students, 105 were graduating seniors. As a result of the success with the Host Family Program, as well as the excellent work of our case management team, HYC has expanded its services throughout Maricopa County. Recent reports from the Arizona Department of Education indicate that there are more than 7,000 homeless youth attending high school in Arizona, and 570 of those students are unaccompanied youth, or youth on their own.
