Other endowments are intended for a variety of uses designated by donors. A number of these endowments make an annual distribution to the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond which supports various Jewish causes. Other endowment funds support a special purpose or field of interest with a specific philanthropic mission. Part X, Line 2: The Foundation follows Financial Accounting Standards Board ("FASB") guidance for how uncertain tax positions should be recognized, measured, disclosed and presented in the financial statements. Management evaluated the Foundation's tax position and concluded that the Foundation had taken no uncertain tax positions that require adjustment to the financial statements to comply with the provisions of this guidance. The Foundation is no longer subject to examination by tax authorities for periods before 2012. The Foundation is not currently under audit by any tax jurisdiction. Recipients of grants must agree that the grant does not represent the payment or satisfaction of any legally enforceable obligation, and that no material benefit or privilege is provided, in return for the grant, to any person or entity. Several permanent endowments and the Genesis Fund require application for grants. These grants are made to eligible organizations for a specific purpose and the recipient organization must sign an agreement stating that the funds will be used for that purpose. The grantee must submit to the Foundation an "Evaluation of Approved Grants" form, along with proposed & actual budget schedules, within 60 days of completion of a project and no later than 12 months from the date the grant was awarded.
