The Foundation is exempt from federal income taxes on its exempt income under Section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code and is exempt from state income taxes under the provisions of the Pennsylvania Nonprofit Corporation Law. The Foundation accounts for uncertainty in income taxes using a recognition threshold of more-likely-than-not to be sustained upon examination by the appropriate taxing authority. Measurement of the tax uncertainty occurs if the recognition threshold is met. Management determined there were no tax uncertainties that met the recognition threshold in 2016. The Foundation's federal Exempt Organization Business Income Tax Returns for years ended December 31, 2015, 2014, and 2013 remain subject to examination by the IRS. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b Andrew Cooney, Treasurer will conduct the review of the 990 on behalf of the board before the return is filed. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, line 19 Governing documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements are all available to the public upon request.
