We are one of the only agencies in Clark County to offer daily, affordable, after-school and summer programs, with a specific focus on under-served neighborhoods. In 2016, we served over 2,900 youth from Kindergarten through 12th Grades at six Club sites, offering high-quality, structured enrichment programs in three core areas: academic success, character and leadership, and healthy lifestyles. We also provided mentoring and tutoring, family outreach activities, and nutritious meals and snacks daily. For as little as $60 per year, Club members were able to access our programs and services five days a week, all year long. No child is turned away for inability to pay. 137070 15976 Opening of the Heights O.K. 2 Clubhouse: In April 2016 we were proud to open our sixth Club site in the neighborhood of Vancouver Heights, WA. In partnership with the Vancouver Housing Authority, the new Club brings vital resources to one of Vancouver's most underserved neighborhoods. In 2016 we served over 240 youth at the site, with a goal of 500 youth at capacity. This includes over 80 children living in the adjacent housing development and students from Marshall and Harney Elementary Schools. The new Club measures 13,900 square feet and features a state-of-the-art education room, art studio, teaching kitchen, gym and technology lab. 195532 Outreach and Mentoring: In 2016, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington served approximately 100 Clark County Youth through a County grant and the Office of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). Youth served though this project were either gang-involved or at risk due to geographic location, economic hardship, influence of friends or family, or other factors. (1) The Prevention Group consisted of approximately 50 1st through 8th Grade members at the Washington and O.K. Club sites. Youth received individual support from staff members, along with our proven youth development programs promoting academic success, character and leadership, and healthy lifestyles. Of those enrolled, approximately 70% attended Club twice a week and took part in a wide range of prosocial activities, from structured recreation in the Games Room to academic success programs like Power Hour homework assistance. (2) In 2016, approximately 44 members of the Intervention Group received either one-on-one case management or bi-weekly group intervention outside of the Club setting.
