Our DLF Youth initiative also provides in-depth weekly training and development to mentors that work with disadvantaged youth. Our Power Sports program is held at DLFs Ring of Hope gym and provides mentoring support for teens while also promoting physical fitness. Power Team mentors also host a free six-week faith-based summer camp called Power Camp. The camp provides a safe place for at-risk youth to learn and have fun during the summer months. Power Study offers Bible study methods for students desiring to grow in their faith. Students participating in our Power Lunch high school program are taught life skills, supported academically, and coached on appropriate behavior. Development among multicultural Dallas youth is fostered in the weekly Power Lunch meeting at four area high schools. Over 2,400 youth were served in 2016 with a graduation 453567 DLF Reentry:DLF Reentry is a collaboration of churches; non-profits and agencies that advocate on behalf of currently and previously incarcerated men and women returning to society. Individuals leaving prison are mentored in Christian principles and provided compassionate assistance with weekly fellowship, obtaining housing, clothing purchases, documentation, employment and transportation. Funds are provided in the form of cash, gift cards and bus passes. 185 volunteers participated in this program for the year ended December 31, 2016, provided on an ongoing basis throughout the year. DLF Reentry also served 1,953 incarcerated and formerly incarcerated men and trained 794 leaders using 90,571 training hours that same year 426116 DLF NeighborhoodsTransform Dallas: Thousands of volunteers were recruited to serve in low-income Dallas neighborhoods during our annual citywide workday, Transform Dallas. DLF hosted the event in collaboration with five churches in 2016. Volunteers painted houses, landscaped yards, assembled and delivered care packages, renovated schools, served food to the homeless, and more. This collective effort included volunteers from different backgrounds working together on over 100 projects. Throughout the year, DLF Neighborhoods department renovates homes belonging to seniors and veterans, installs safety features in low-income neighborhoods, supports the community development efforts made by other organizations, and more.
