The program matches the relatives, who remain in Africa, of local South Sudanese refugees with American sponsors to provide for their education, nutrition, shelter and safety. Over 90 refugee relatives have now graduated High School in Kenya and Uganda through our program. Several are now college graduates in public health, nursing, agriculture, electrical engineering and accounting. One is now a surgeon finishing his medical residency in Kenya! 42546 42546 0 Our second largest program is our Overseas Living Assistance program which seeks to meet the needs of South Sudanese refugee family members, who remain in Africa, by providing funds for their housing and food needs. This program seeks to help the family members, who remain in Africa, of our South Sudanese refugee neighbors by providing funds for their emergency or chronic medical needs. Due to extreme living conditions and malnutrition, many of these individuals have health issues and by networking with African doctors and raising funds, we are able to help them get the care they need. 14076 14076 0 Local Living Support: meets the housing and food needs of local refugee families 13230 13230 0 Transportation (Overseas): provides transportation for individuals to receive medical care they may need or to move to safer refugee camps during times of unrest. Also, occasionally, local refugees will travel to visit family members that they are separated from and we try to provide some funds to support them as they travel in Africa. 7630 7630 0 Omorembe Orphanage: This is a partnership with a small orphanage operated by Pastor David Asiago in Kisii, Kenya. Because we are deeply involved in the lives of the South Sudanese refugees in our local community, we often become aware of needs that their family members (who remain in Africa) have. One way we meet these needs is through our African Boarding school program which provides education grants to students in primary-secondary school as well as a few college students. Report cards, tuition receipts, and annual pictures are collected and filed in our records to substantiate these grants. We also extend food/rent/medical assistance grants to individuals that are in dire need. Our intent was to submit the taxes by the 15th, but once all the books were reconciled we realized that for the first time in 10 years, we raised just barely too much money to qualify for the 990EZ form. We took a few extra days to better familiarize ourselves with the Form 990 to make sure that we submitted everything accurately and completely.
