Thousands of diverse community members attend these public programs dedicated to the Holocaust and its lessons. This interactive museum offers students and visitors a deeper understanding of the Holocaust and its lessons, focusing on stories of survival, loss, liberation and resistance. Each year our traveling exhibits offer the experience of a museum and the benefits of Holocaust education within our community. Philippines Project: The Philippines Project is an initiative to create a documentary about the incredible true story of the Frieder Brothers from Cincinnati, who coordinated the rescue of 1,200 Jewish refugees during the Holocaust. The Brothers worked with the President of the Philippines, Manuel Quezon, and U.S. High Commisdioner Paul V. McNutt to provide a safe haven in the Philippines for these individuals escaping persecution. 60413 Last year, almost 800 students from 24 schools, 12 throughout Ohio and 12 throughout the state of Israel, participated in an International Shared Reading Project. This project, recently acquired by CHHE, is offered in partnership with the Jewish Federation of Youngstown and Canton, Ohio. The program allows students in Israel to connect with their partners in Ohio through an online discussion board, to share in the reading of Holocaust literature and memoirs, based on the teaching philosophy of educator, author and victim of the Holocaust, Janusz Korczak.
