Our sober active community reached 3,277 new individuals in 2016, for a total of 22,193 since our founding in 2006. Through pursuits like climbing, hiking, running, swimming, road and mountain biking, yoga, strength training, racing and other activities, they seek to help their members develop and maintain the emotional strength they need to stay sober. Phoenix members become part of a community that places value on the future rather than the past. Phoenix Multisport offers the opportunity for social and athletic networking that can lead to long lasting relationships with others who share a commitment to sobriety. Form 990, Part III, Line 4a, Description of Program Service - Continuation: After purchasing the property adjacent to our Denver facility in 2015, a capital campaign began to raise funds to begin the expansion project. The capital campaign was achieved and by the end of 2016, the project was approximately 90% completed. This new separate facility will provide space to offer additional programming and instructors will be able to provide concurrent programs, i.e. yoga in one building and CrossFit in the other. In Orange County, California the new Program Director was hired and will focus on strengthening and increasing our partnership programs with treatment centers. Membership grew from 180 members in 2015 to 711 members in 2016. Our Boston, Massachusetts chapter continued its growth in the community as more individuals learn of our presence there. We continue to search for a permanent facility that will serve our long term needs. New team member enrollments grew significantly from 48 members in 2015 to 195 in 2016. We began offering our free programs to the community. Opioid use in the New England states is a crisis and Phoenix will continue its efforts to help those who are suffering. National expansion efforts are ramping up as Phoenix looks at new opportunities to collaborate with a substantial partner organization. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b Form 990 is prepared by an independent CPA firm and is reviewed in detail by the organization's CFO for accuracy. The 990 is then reviewed by the organization's board of directors prior to being filed with the IRS. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c In addition to the annual review and signing of the policy, board members and officers are required to bring any potential conflicts that arise over the course of the year to the attention of the Executive Director or Board Chair. If a conflict of interest is determined to exist, the board member with the conflict would recuse him/herself from any board decision-making process, and the recusal would be reflected in the meeting minutes. In determining compensation for the President, comparability data is referenced.
